HEKS Bangladesh, with its partner organizations,has been working in Bangladesh since 1973 to improve the livelihood condition of non-mainstream marginalized population including Dalits and ethnic minorities.In the course of journey, with the heartiest efforts of its partner organizations and PooC (people of our concern), HEKS formed a Network of Nonmainstream Marginalized Communities (NNMC) in 2013, aiming the socio – economic inclusion of ethnic minorities and socially excluded groups. To share the context, rational, role and strategic direction of the NNMC, a daylong workshop was held on 20th September, 2013 at the Conference room of RDRS, Rangpur. The workshop was organized by the partners of NNMC with the support of HEKS Bangladesh.
A total 112 number of participants joined in this workshop. The government representatives from different department like social welfare, education, health and local government were participated in the workshop. Along with them, people representatives, social worker, media personal, member of civil society organizations and PooC from Adibashi and Dalit communities were participated the event. The chief guest was Md.NurunNabi Talukder, Director General, NGO Affairs Bureau (NGOAB), the special guest was Mr. Muhammad Delewar Bakth, Divisional Commissioner, Rangpur and the honorable guests were Mr.Narayan Chandra Barma, Additional Divisional Commissioner, Rangpur, Ms. ShameemaAkhter, Country Director, HEKS Bangladesh and Ms. Minu Sheel, Director Local Government.
In this workshop, Participants expressed their demands for establishing their rights as Citizen of Bangladesh and also made commitment to work with NNMC.
